Anointed to Overflow

Christ means the anointed one

Psalm 23:5 NKJV

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;

You anoint my head with oil;

My cup runs over.

The noun "shul-chan" inbei (shool-khawn)

(Strong's #7979) is literally a table, but implies a MEAL on the TABLE and comes from the verb 7760, which has a meaning of spreading out.

1 Corinthians 10:21 NKJV

21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons.

There is a place that belongs to the demon when eating

enemy:

The verb "tsarar" (Strong's #6887) literally means to be

"cramped up" as in being confined in a narrow pressing place.

Enemy here then is a reference to those who would bind me and cause me trouble.

anoint:

According to Strong's the verb "dashen" (Strong's #1878) means to "be fat," but can also mean to "anoint" in the sense of putting fat on someone's head.

This is really more of a reference to prosperity.

This is not the same word used when Jesus was "anointed" that word is "ma-sha-ch".

head:

The noun "rosh" (Strong's #7218) means "head".

oil:

The literal meaning of the noun "shemen" (Strong's #8081) is

"oil," but if you look up the uses of this word in other verses it is clear that this word is often used for olive oil.

cup:

The noun "kos" (Strong's #3562) is literally a cup used to hold liquids,

but is closely related to 3599, which a cup or bag of money;

• it can be implied that a cup is a concrete word used f one's holdings or possessions and context of the passal does imply this.

H3599

Original: 0'9 kiys

Phonetic: keece bag, purse for weights, money Strong's Definition:

A form for H3563; a cup; also a bag for money or weights: - bag, cup, purse

You will put in order and arrange a meal spread out on the table in front of my face,

  • boldly showing this in front of my enemy that is pressing in on

    me:

  • you will anoint my life with prosperity, all of my holdings and possessions will abundantly overflow to fill my needs.

When you take communion, who comes to you as an enemy?

We take communion and represent something spiritual. Fear of lack and sickness

Jesus has overcome the sickness

The communion is for us to declare based on what Jesus has done on the cross for us. We stand on the Lord’s table and confront the enemy to get lost.

How we build faith? It is not built overnight

Building of faith is about meditation and confession of God’s Word.

It is not when we are sick

Your heart needs to believe it fully first. Meditation and confession is feeding the spirit man.

Meditating and speaking God’s promises. Ww do it when we are well.

When you are sick you cannot eat.

You eat when you are well.

Meditation and confession of God’s word is to build your muscle.

When you are in front of the mountain, you speak to the mountain.

Without doubting in your heart, the mountain moves.

Joshua 1:8 NKJV

8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Prepare the spiritual muscle to bring down stronghold and enemies.

Speaking to your own spirit. It is like convincing yourself first.

Meditating and confessing. The word comes from the inside.

It is very important it is not about a magic word. We build our faith and we know our identity in Christ.

Meditate the word of God, build faith and we can set people free

YHWH will provide everything that his follower needs and this will be displayed in front of his enemies, causing them to be jealous.

The enemy will realize that he has no hold over God's chosen and the enemy will be unable to conquer him, due to the Lord's abundant blessings.

Yahweh will never let his followers down.

As long as Yahweh is their shepherd he will always provide for them and take care of them.

He will provide shelter and a comfortable place to live.

We should never want to leave His presence.

God is not only our provider, giving us what we need to survive, but He is a generous God, lavishing His love on us.

Rather than leaving a food package by the door, He's set the table and laid out a feast.

It's all ready, and prepared for us.

This speaks of honor, and of rest.

We are invited to come and sit at the table, to tarry, spending time in fellowship together with Him rather than grabbing a bite to eat on the go.

In Jewish thought the table is like an altar, like with the showbread in the temple.

It's a point of meeting with God.

Moreover, God gives us this V.I.P. treatment in front of our enemies.

We can sit and relax at the banquet table under His protection, while the enemy can only look on.

We can rest and relax because He is protecting us.

God is our bodyguard. We don’t need to pay.

David is noting the great contrast between the destiny of the righteous and the unrighteous, His people and His enemies.

The wicked are excluded from the great banquet, yet they have to look on and can only gnash their teeth as God rolls out the red carpet for His loved ones.

When we serve the Lord and honour Him, He welcome us to heaven

David was literally anointed on his head with oil by the prophet Samuel, who had been sent by God.

David was chosen and favored by God.

He was destined to be king, with God's sanction and approval.

The word "messiah" means anointed one, one anointed for a purpose.

PSALMS 16:5 TPT

Yahweh, you alone are my inheritance.

You are my prize, my pleasure, and my portion.

You hold my destiny and its timing in your hands.

Lets learn and know we are God’s children

In Psalm 23 David is talking about his great satisfaction with all God has given him, to the point of overflowing.

He is delighted with God's kind and abundant provision for his life.

Again, David's life wasn't easy.

He had a HIGH CALLING with a HIGH COST,

• but he was DELIGHTED with the AMAZING LIFE God had given to him.

We are supernatural. Different.

Both oil and wine are made through crushing, but produce such good results

This overflowing cup speaks of

  • the CALLING,

  • the CHALLENGE, and

  • the BLESSING

that GOD GIVES us in this life and the next-that which is apportioned to us.

It's not just satisfying, but ABUNDANTLY OVERFLOWING!

Why Do the Jews recite Psalm 23?

This custom of reciting Mizmor leDavid on Shabbat, before each meal and during the prayers, actually comes from the famed Kabbalist Rabbi Yitzchak ben Shlomo Luria, the Arizal (1534 - 1572).

Why specifically on Shabbat?

The theme of Mizmor leDavid is TRUST in G-D.

And therefore, on Shabbat, when we are commanded to rest and forbidden to work,

  • we recite this prayer, proclaiming our TRUST that it is G-D who PROVIDES SUSTENANCE to all, and that He,

  • OUR FAITHFUL SHEPHERD, will SURELY provide for us.

This idea is especially related to the verse,

"You set a table

before me in the presence of my adversaries."

That is also why we say it particularly at the end of Shabbat, when we are about to re-enter the mundane world and toil to earn a livelihood.

Trust in God to be the One who provides for them

Additionally, the Arizal explained that this psalm helps to STRENGTHEN those

• who are not so confident, - who are concerned that their livelihood will suffer as a result of their not working on Shabbat.

Through reciting Mizmor leDavid, he taught, one will develop proper trust in G-d.

Stop worrying about work and money

Interestingly, the Kabbalists teach that this psalm has special significance to one's livelihood because it has 57 words,

• the numerical value of the word "zan," which means to sustain, and

• 227 letters, the numerical value of the word "brachah," blessing.

This again reminds us that G-D is the source of our sustenance.

Psalm 23 is a blessing psalm

God is the source of our sustenance

Rabbi

Menachem

Mendel

Rimanov

(1745-1815),

chassidic rebbe and author of Divrei Menachem, explains the verse "You set a table before me in the presence of my adversaries" to refer to the manna that G-d provided for the Jews in the desert.

Shabbat has a special connection to the manna, as a double portion fell from heaven on Friday for every Jew, for Friday and Shabbat.

(That is one of the reasons we have two challahs at each Shabbat meal).

Perhaps that is another reason we say Mizmor leDavid specifically before meals, reminding us of the miracle of the manna, and how even now, just like then, it is G-d who provides for uS.

"Sheep can get their head caught in briers and die trying to get untangled.

There are horrid little flies that like to torment sheep by laying eggs in their nostrils which turn into worms and drive the sheep to beat their head against a rock, sometimes to death.

Their ears and eyes are also susceptible to tormenting insects.

So the shepherd anoints their whole head with oil.

Then there is peace.

That oil forms a barrier of protection against the evil that tries to destroy the sheep.

Do you have times of mental torment?

Do the worrisome thoughts invade your mind over and over?

Do you beat your head against a wall trying to stop them?

Have you ever asked God to anoint your head with oil?

He has an endless supply!

His oil protects and makes it possible for you to fix your heart, mind, and eyes on Him today and always!

There is peace in the valley!

Holy Spirit is the oil.

Our good good Father anoint your head with oil today so that your cup overflows with blessings!

God is good and He is faithful!!

We must always keep in mind that just like anointed sheep) we have also been anointed and protected (sealed) by our Shepherd...

2 CORINTHIANS 1:21-22 TPT

Now, it is God himself who has ANOINTED us.

And he is constantly STRENGHTENING both you and us in union with Christ.

He knows we are his since he has also stamped his SEAL of LOVE over our hearts and HAS GIVEN us the HOLY SPIRIT

  • like an engagement ring is given to a bride-

  • a DOWN PAYMENT of the BLESSINGS to come!

Righteousness of God is not our righteousness. Don’t stand on our own righteousness

Born of the spirit, sealed with the spirit

It is by the Holy Spirit

He is a promise, a seal, a guarantee of receiving our full inheritance

When you know the Holy Spirit, the devil will run!

PSALMS 23:1,5,6 TPT

Yahweh is my best friend and my shepherd.

I always have more than enough.

You become my delicious feast even when my enemies dare to fight.

You anoint me with the fragrance of your Holy Spirit; you give me all I can drink of you until my cup overflows.

So why would I fear the future?

Only goodness and tender love pursue me all the days of my life.

Then afterward, when my life is through, I'll return to your glorious presence to be forever with you!

Circular path

Round and round the hill to go up

His correction is to show we are His son

God is our Shepherd, our Best Friend

He wants to bless our cup until overflow

Whenever we need is chasing after us

He is our portion and inheritance

Some people long for things of this world or people of this world.

The love of our life is Jesus Christ.

He died for us.

He prepared a place for us.

He will never abandon us

Our cup overflow with God’s blessing
