HSPF 07 - Session 5

Embrace Your Mantle

Under shepherd training, need to be quick and fast. Respect the Holy Spirit’s presence.

Follow the stirring and put the flesh aside if you want to chat.

Learn how to be quiet in the presence of the Lord.

God show up.

The church He wants to use for His glory.

Church is make up of individual, not a building

A midnight wrestling match

GENESIS 32:22 TPT

During the night, Jacob arose, woke up his two wives, his two maidservants, and eleven sons, and had them cross the ford of the Jabbok River.

GENESIS 32:23-24 TPT

He sent them across

along with everything he had, and Jacob was left ALL ALONE.

Jacob was left ALONE

32:24 To be left alone with God is the only true way of coming to self-discovery.

This was the turning point for Jacob. His schemes had all failed, and now he faced God alone.

God is repeating Himself to Jacob

Sometimes being alone is when God wants to use His people

When no one can help you, God can use you

In this world, you are defined by people

Experience of being alone will be part of our experience

In that time, you will find who you are. When no one define for you.

Christians, do you know your God is real?

GENESIS 32:23-24 TPT

Suddenly, out of nowhere, a man appeared and wrestled with him until daybreak.

32:24 The Hebrew word for "wrestle" is related to a word for "dust" or "get dusty," as two people do when wrestling on the ground. There is an amazing play on words in the Hebrew between the words "he wrestled" (ye'abeq), "Jabbok"

(yabboq), and "Jacob" (ydaqob). The eyes of Jacob could not discern

who was coming out of the shadows, just as Jacob's father, Isaac, could not discern who it was that received his blessing. It was not Jacob wrestling a man, but a Man wrestling with Jacob. The One whom Jacob saw at the top of the stairway at Bethel had come down to wrestle with him-and roll in the mud of Jacob's mistakes.

Medicine is for certain condition. Don’t share your medicine with others.

A lot of sicknesses come from stress.

Disease comes from dis-ease

No ease

Man goes by sense, and are sense ruled and think is not healed

Believe God and you shall be established

Believe prophets and you shall prosper

5 senses realm - waiting for manifestation

Many wait until doctor said ok

But actually the Lord has ALREADY HEALED you

He has GIVEN us righteousness. He HAS HEALED YOU

Sickness is NOT from the Lord

It is not depending on your power to heal someone.

It is the Word of God.

A man of God must believe the Word of God. Not by doctor’s word.

Financial, what do you believe?

Your saving account depicting? You know and believe what God says in this area?

I am more than enough. Through His poverty, i become rich.

Take action of faith.

The wrestling of dust speaks of flesh

Allow yourself to be equipped

To be a man and woman of spirit and not of flesh.

Flesh wrestling against the spirit

A Man wrestling with Jacob.

The Man - Son of God

Jacob was a human being like all of us. He made mistakes.

God came down and rolled with Jacob

God did not scold them.

Jacob in the flesh manipulated and strong will. He had the ability and strength

GENESIS 32:25 TPT

When the man saw that he was not winning the match, he struck Jacob's hip and knocked it out of joint, leaving it wrenched as he continued to wrestle with him.

32:25 Jacob grabbed a heel; God grabbed his hip! Through these private encounters with the Lord, we become those whose names have been changed (see Gen. 17:5;

Isa. 62:2, 4; Rev. 2:17; 3:12); we are changed into humbled, transformed ones who are

subdued by the power of God (see Phil. 3:21). Jacob had at least two night encounters with the Lord: one while he rested (see Gen. 28) and the other while he wrestled.

When he rested, the region got a new name—Luz became Bethel.

When he wrestled, he got a new name-Jacob became Israel.

Rest in Christ then u have access to heaven through Christ

The place Jacob rested had a new name. Luz to Bethel. House of God. Rest in the spirit, not body.

Spiritual realm comes out from physical realm.

When he wrestled, he got a new name

Jacob became Israel.

In Christ, God has to do something to our flesh. Our flesh rest in our ability

GENESIS 32:26 TPT

Eventually, the man said to him,

"Let me go, for the day is breaking."

But Jacob refused.

"No!

Not until you bless me!"

32:26 Jacob might have initially thought it was Esau who had come at midnight to wrestle him.

But as the night wore on, he realized the Man was a divine being (see Hos.

12:4). Perceiving this was a supernatural Man who had the power to bless or to curse, Jacob refused to release him until he pronounced a blessing over him.

It is nothing wrong to seek God’s blessings

GENESIS 32:27 TPT

"What is your name?" asked the man.

"Jacob," he replied.

32:27 This was a strange question because God knew his name. God touched not only his hip but also his slumbering conscience. When asked this question, Jacob's imagination took him back over twenty years to the dark tent where his blind, aged father had faced him with the same question and he had answered, "It's I-Esau"-and got away with it (see Gen. 27:19)! Now the Lord had come to Jacob insisting he acknowledge that he was the one who took advantage of his father and his brother. Jacob means "heel grabber" or

"supplanter." The Lord was insisting that his blessings would only begin when Jacob realized the true need of his heart. By speaking out his name, Jacob confessed his true nature: "I am a deceiver, a cheat. My name is heel grabber." This confession liberated Jacob and opened the way for inner

transformation (see Ps. 119:116; 2 Cor. 4:16).

Your spirit man has been made 100% righteous.

It is not God who condemn you, it is your spiritman speaks to you

Before transformation can takes place, we need to not have slumber conscience

The one who gave us the grace message is Apostle Paul.

By the grace of God, I am what I am. I do not take this grace for granted. I work harder than all of you. yet not I, but Christ inside me.

The Lord came to Jacob. He did not go to the Lord.

If we don’t realise we are sinners to the core, we will never move in His righteousness

Before God can use someone, He has to transform the person.

Acknowledge we were sinners (whatever we were, pride, manipulator)

GENESIS 32:28 TPT

"NOT ANYMORE," the man said to

him. "Your NEW NAME is Israel, for you have STRUGGLED both with GOD and with PEOPLE and have OVERCOME."

32:28 Israel means "one who struggled with God and prevailed," "may God [El] preserve," or "prince with God."

GENESIS 32:29 TPT

Jacob said, "Please, tell me your name."

"Why ask my name?" the man replied, then he SPOKE a BLESSING over Jacob.

32:29 This blessing empowered Jacob to succeed and prosper.

GENESIS 32:30 TPT

So Jacob named the place Penuel [Face of God], saying, "I have seen God face-to-face, yet my life has been spared!"

32:30 Once you have seen the face of God, the faces of those who oppose you

will no longer intimidate you. Jacob could now look Esau in the eyes.

We esteem the other person higher than us.

Bear the person who is weak.

When we don’t look at someone it is like they are dead before our eyes

Acts 5:5

Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon all those who heard these things.

God kind of love has to be poured to us. We cannot churn it out

GENESIS 32:31 TPT

The sun rose upon him as he crossed the Jabbok River from Penuel, limping because of his hip.

Femur: Stronger Than Concrete

When thinking about strength, images of steel or concrete may come to mind.

But did you know that the human femur, or thigh bone, is actually stronger than concrete?

This fact may be surprising, but it highlights the incredible strength and durability of our bones, specifically the femoral bone.

The human femur is the largest and strongest bone in the body.

It is known for its role in supporting our body weight and facilitating movement.

This vital bone is essential for walking, running, jumping, and performing various activities throughout our lives.

Its strength is crucial for maintaining stability and preventing fractures.

According to scientific research, the human femur has an amazing tensile strength of 1,800 MPa (megapascals).

In comparison, concrete typically has a compressive strength of about 20-

40 MPa.

This means that the femur bone can withstand significantly more pressure than concrete before breaking or fracturing.

It is never on our own strength.

GENESIS 35:1 TPT

God said to Jacob, "ARISE, go at once to BETHEL, and SETTLE there.

Build an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you were fleeing from your brother Esau."

When you think you cannot, God gave back the ministry.

When you think you are smart, God cannot use you.

Limping on our own abilities but hold on to Christ’s ability.

God broke Moses down till he cannot. God took away his own strength

GENESIS 35:1 TPT

God said to Jacob,

"ARISE, go at once to BETHEL, and SETTLE

there.

Build an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you were fleeing from your brother Esau."

GENESIS 35:2 TPT

So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, "Get rid of every foreign god you have, purify yourselves, and CHANGE YOUR CLOTHES.

35:2 Our old clothes symbolize the old life that must be laid aside as we put on Christ (see Isa. 64:6; Rev. 3:18). To change our garments is to change our manner of life and put on a new man (see Rom. 13:14).

He now acknowledges God

GENESIS 35:3 TPT

Then come with me; let us go up to Bethel.

I will build an altar there to God who answered my prayer when I was in distress and whose presence has been with me wherever I have gone."

GENESIS 35:6 TPT

Jacob and all the people who were with him ARRIVED in the land of Canaan at Luz, now known as BETHEL.

GENESIS 35:7 TPT

He built an altar there and named it EL-BETHEL, because it was the place that God had unveiled himself when Jacob was running from his brother.

35:7 That is, "God of the House of God."

He has wrestled and prevailed

GENESIS 35:9 TPT

After Jacob returned from Paddan-Aram, God appeared to him once again and blessed him,

35:9 "Once again" may refer to either Jacob's earlier encounter with God at Mahanaim (see Gen. 32:1-2) or the one at

Penuel (see Gen. 32:29-30), but more likely it refers to a new experience.

God revealed himself many times to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and he will reveal himself to this generation also.

GENESIS 35:10 TPT

saying, "Your name was once Jacob, but no longer. Your NEW NAME is ISRAEL!"

God named him Israel

GENESIS 35:11 TPT

and SAID to him, "I AM the GOD who is

MORE than ENOUGH.

Go and have many children, and they will multiply.

A nation and a gathering of many nations will come from you; and you will be the ancestor of kings.

35:11 Or "El Shaddai."

Some translate El Shaddai as "Almighty God" or "Sovereign God." However, in this context, God blessed Jacob and gave him the power of life and multiplication. See Gen. 17:1-4; 28:3. See also T. N. D. Mettinger, In Search of God, 69-72; R. Gordis, "The Biblical Root sdy-sd," Journal of Biblical Studies,

54 (1935): 173-210.

The oil, the seed, has life and multiplication

GENESIS 35:12 TPT

I will give you the land which I gave to Abraham and to Isaac, and after you are gone, to your descendants."

GENESIS 35:14 TPT

Jacob set up a stone pillar to memorialize the place where he had met with God.

He poured over it a drink offering and anointed the pillar with OlL.

35:14 Or "where God had spoken to him [Jacob]."

Jacob himself was the drink offering that was poured out to God.

35:14 Literally "he poured a pouring." One may assume that it was a drink offering of wine. Jacob poured an offering once again over the pillar at Bethel, the House of God, as he had in Gen. 28. See Ex. 29:40-41; Num. 6:17; 15:1-5; 28:7-10; 2 Sam. 23:16. The drink offering was a unique offering that was offered by a priest in gratitude for the firstfruits of harvest (see Lev. 23:10-13). Often, it was poured out upon other offerings.

Jacob himself was the drink offering that was poured out to God. The pillar becomes a picture of the victorious life (see Rev.

3:12).

As we navigate our spiritual lives, it's important to understand that being POURED OUT often begins with ACKNOWLEDGING GOD'S CALL for US.

Each one of us has a unique purpose, and God wants us to use our gifts to serve others.

By embracing this call, we are essentially pouring ourselves out for those around us.

We're choosing to prioritize God's mission over our agendas, which ultimately leads us to a fulfilling life filled with purpose and joy.

When we surrender to God, everything becomes clearer.

ACTS 20:24 TPT

"But whether I live or die is not important, for I don't esteem my life as indispensable.

It's MORE IMPORTANT for me to FULFILL

  • my DESTINY and

  • to FINISH the ministry MY LORD JESUS has ASSIGNED to me, which is to faithfully preach the wonderful news of God's grace.

20:24 Or "I do not consider my life worth a single word." That is, Paul viewed his life as not worth mentioning. We don't need to see our lives as precious in our own eyes, for they are precious in the eyes of our Lord Jesus, and that must be enough.

PHILIPPIANS 2:17 TPT

But I will REJOICE even if my life is POURED OUT like a LIQUID OFFERING to GOD over your sacrificial and surrendered lives of

faith.

2:17 The interpretation of this verse is difficult; it is speaking about Paul's willingness to be a love offering for the Philippians if that's what God desired. There is a powerful figure of speech contained in the Aramaic, literally translated as "though I imbibe the wine poured over the offering." This is a metaphor of Paul shedding his blood one day because of his love for the Philippians. Indeed, Paul was later martyred for his faith.

PHILIPPIANS 2:20 TPT

Timothy is like no other.

He carries the same passion for your welfare that I carry in my heart.

PHILIPPIANS 2:21 TPT

For it seems as though everyone else is busy seeking what is best for themselves instead of the things that are most important to our Lord Jesus Christ.

PHILIPPIANS 2:21 CEB

All the others put their own business ahead of Jesus Christ's business.

Seek His purpose above our own

PHILIPPIANS 2:22 ICB

You know the kind of person Timothy is.

You know that he has served with me in telling the Good News, as a son serves his father.

PHILIPPIANS 2:22-23 TPT

After I see what transpires with me he's the one I will send to you to bless you.

2 TIMOTHY 4:1 NLT

I solemnly urge you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who will someday judge the living and the dead when he comes to set up his Kingdom:

2 TIMOTHY 4:2 TPT

proclaim the Word of God and stand upon it no matter what!

Rise to the occasion and preach when it is convenient and when it is not.

Preach in the full expression of the Holy Spirit -with wisdom and patience as you instruct and teach the people.

2 TIMOTHY 4:3 TPT

For the time is coming when they will no longer listen and respond to the healing words of truth because they will become selfish and proud.

They will SEEK OUT teachers with SOOTHING WORDS

  • that line up with their desires,

  • saying just what they want to hear.

Transform to be like Christ

2 TIMOTHY 4:5 EASY

But you yourself must continue to think seriously and clearly.

Be patient and brave when troubles come.

Continue to tell the good news about Christ to people. Do all the work that God has given you to do as HIS SERVANT.

GENESIS 46:1 TPT

Israel packed up all he had and went to Beersheba, where he offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.

GENESIS 46:2 TPT

God spoke to him in visions of the night, and called,

"JACOB, JACOB!"

"Yes, I'm here," he answered.

46:2 For the first time in twenty-two years, God appeared to Jacob. He was now one hundred and thirty years old. See Gen.

47:9.

GENESIS 46:3-4 TPT

"I am God, the God of your father.

Do not be afraid to go to Egypt; for I will make your descendants a great nation there.

I will go with you to Egypt, and I will bring your descendants back to this land.

And the hand of Joseph will be there to close your eyes when you die."

46:4 Within Jewish culture, even to this day, the nearest relative or oldest son would gently close the eyes of a loved one at death. Indeed, Joseph did as God had promised Jacob. See Gen. 49:33-50:1.

The CALL of a FATHER

When God called a name twice as a direct address,

  • it was to get their immediate attention.

  • It was because God or His Son Jesus needed to tell them something important at the time or to stop them from doing something that could not be delayed.

  • to elevate or promote the people to a prominent position.

Repeating a person's name is a Hebrew expression of intimacy.

GOD is calling you to Himself this morning and to embrace His mantle to serve Him with HIS strength and anointing.
